Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Olha Stefanishyna said that Kyiv and Washington continue to work on peace, but there is no significant progress so far.
According to her, both countries have a common goal - to end the war and ensure a just and sustainable peace. She emphasized that Ukraine has fulfilled all possible obligations necessary to move in this direction, writes Urinform.
Stefanishyna noted that active consultations with the United States on the content and scope of potential agreements are ongoing. After the meeting in Moscow, she said, the parties are discussing further steps that can be taken, and although progress has been minimal so far, the process is ongoing.
She also said that the next round of talks between the delegations of Ukraine and the United States will take place on December 4 in Florida, where Ukraine will be represented by NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov.
The article reminds that the United States presented a new peace plan in November. Its first version contained 28 points, most of which were favorable to russia. Because of this, Ukraine and the United States held consultations in Geneva and Florida on November 23 and 30, trying to make the document more acceptable to Kyiv.
On December 2, Trump's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and presidential adviser Jared Kushner arrived in moscow for talks with vladimir putin on the updated plan. After the meeting, the kremlin said that there was no compromise yet, but that the dialog was ongoing. The American side also handed over four more documents to russia.
Although Ushakov's comment was interpreted by the media as moscow's rejection of the peace plan, Dmitry Peskov later denied it. The US described the meeting as "productive," and Donald Trump said that, according to his representatives, putin seemed ready to end the war.
On December 4, Vitkoff and Kushner are to hold a new round of talks, this time with Ukrainian negotiator Umerov. The topic is unchanged: continuing to work on the terms of a peace deal.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on December 2, Zelenskyy said that he is waiting for signals from the US delegation after the talks in russia, and the next steps depend on these signals.
Alex Raufoglu, Washington correspondent for Foreign Press and Kyiv Post, said that after a visit to moscow and lengthy talks with the russian side, US representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner canceled their planned arrival in Brussels to meet with Zelenskyy.
