French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said that the key condition for the start of peace talks in Ukraine is the involvement of European partners. It was reported by Le Figaro.
"We have made every effort to ensure that everything is done in favor of peace in Ukraine and security in Europe," Barrot said.
He also noted that "all issues related to European countries have been excluded for now" and that the 28-point US peace plan, which included demands for territorial concessions and army restrictions, was significantly changed after a tough reaction from Kyiv and Europe.
According to him, for the first time there was a clear statement from the United States about its readiness to cooperate with Ukraine on the preparation of security guarantees - military mechanisms that should prevent any further aggression after peace is achieved.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Macron said that US President Donald Trump's peace plan needs to be improved to make it acceptable to Ukraine and Europe. He emphasized that "we do not want a peace that is actually a surrender."
Leaders of most European countries did not know about the US "peace plan" to end the russian-Ukrainian war until information about it leaked to the press.
