In order to restore trust around NNEGC Energoatom, it is necessary to hold a competition for the Supervisory Board not under a shortened procedure, but under a full and open competitive procedure, in accordance with OECD standards, as provided for all strategic Ukrainian state-owned enterprises. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko has stated this.
According to her, such recommendations are enshrined in a letter from the heads of diplomatic missions of the G7 countries, which was sent to the Government.
"We are grateful for the involvement of our partners and share the position that the reboot of the government requires a balanced approach. The competition and appointment should take place by the end of this year, and the Government provides all the necessary conditions for this," Svyrydenko said.
For the period of the competition, the Government will perform the functions of the Supervisory Board of NNEGC Energoatom in full cooperation with partners, involving the Nomination Committee in making important decisions on the management of the company.
"These changes are part of the Government's action plan to reboot the management of state-owned companies, in particular in the energy sector," Yuliia Svyrydenko emphasized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on November 10, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office published part of the audio recordings as part of an investigation into a large-scale corruption scheme in the energy sector, codenamed Midas.
According to NABU and SAPO, the main activity of the suspects was the systematic receipt of illegal benefits from Energoatom's contractors in the amount of 10% to 15% of the value of contracts.
The very next day, the Cabinet of Ministers made the first decisions to restart NNEGC Energoatom, one of which was early termination of the powers of the company's Supervisory Board.
In addition, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced an urgent audit of state defense companies, all data on violations will be sent to law enforcement agencies.
