The situation in Pokrovsk, Donetsk Region, remains very difficult, but the decision to withdraw troops should be made by commanders on the ground. This was reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with Bloomberg on Thursday, November 13.
Zelenskyy acknowledged the difficult situation in Pokrovsk, which the russian occupiers have been trying to seize control of for several months. According to him, any decision to withdraw troops should be made by commanders on the ground.
"No one is pushing them to die for the sake of ruins. I will support our soldiers, especially the commanders who are there, as they can control the situation. Or it is too expensive for us - the most important thing for us is our soldiers," the President emphasized.
Russia seeks to capture Pokrovsk in order to convince US President Donald Trump that Ukraine must withdraw from Donbas in order to end the war, Zelenskyy emphasized. The Defense Forces will not leave eastern Ukraine, because people will not understand this, and most importantly, it will not be a guarantee that the russians will stop, the head of state said: "There is no deterrent factor."
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on November 13, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that there is no encirclement of Ukrainian forces in Pokrovsk.
On November 11, the 7th Rapid Reaction Corps of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that more than 300 russian military personnel are located directly in the city of Pokrovsk.
On November 10, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine denied the occupiers' claims about the alleged establishment of full fire control over logistical routes in the Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad areas.
