Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić has expressed readiness to hold peace talks between Ukraine and russia.

He said this in an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital.

"Serbia is also among the countries that are offering their good services, given our background, given the fact that we are friends with all the parties involved, to try and, if needed or if there's an interest, host any kind of talks … on how to bring this horrible tragedy which has resulted in so many deaths and so much destruction to an end," Đurić said.

The Serbian Foreign Minister also said that the war in Ukraine should end immediately.

The newspaper notes that while Serbia has joined UN resolutions condemning russia's invasion of Ukraine and the referendums on the annexation of part of Ukrainian territory, Belgrade has refused to join Western sanctions against russia over the invasion. However, Đurić notes that both Ukraine and russia support Serbia's territorial integrity over Kosovo.

In June, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić refused to sign a joint declaration calling for tougher sanctions against the aggressor country russia. He took part in a summit between Ukraine and 12 states of Southeastern Europe in Odesa.

Later that month, a massive protest took place in Belgrade, Serbia. The participants demanded early elections and an end to the long-running rule of President Aleksandar Vučić . The protest escalated into clashes between demonstrators and police.

Meanwhile, Croatia stops supplying pipeline oil to Serbia, as the Serbian oil refinery company NIS has not received a license from the US Treasury Department and falls under sanctions.
