European allies have already financed the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine for USD 2 billion.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said this during a conversation with journalists in Washington.
He said that the first several billion dollars were transferred to the United States as payment for the supply of weapons to Ukraine. The first batches of weapons and other military equipment have already been sent.
Rutte noted that this is just the beginning of financing the purchase of weapons for Ukraine.
In addition, the NATO Secretary General added that after a ceasefire or a settlement of the conflict, the allocations for the purchase of weapons for Ukraine will be significantly increased.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on October 16, Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal said that the result of the last meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine was a contribution of USD 400 million to the PURL initiative for the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine.
The day before, on October 15, US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said that Washington expected increased contributions from allies to the PURL initiative.
