Servicemen of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine attacked an airfield in the occupied Crimea, where they destroyed the latest russian radar station.

The press service of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine reported this today, October 20.

"Masters of the Unmanned Systems Directorate of the Defense Intelligence's Active Action Department tracked down and targeted an expensive radar station that was camouflaged," the statement said.

The purpose of the Defense Intelligence's operation to destroy military targets in Crimea was to detect and counteract the Valdai anti-UAV radar station. This is the newest complex of this type for the russian army.

It was emphasized that the Valdai complex was located on the territory of the Dzhankoi airfield.

Valdai is a radar system for detecting and countering small UAVs. The complex was developed by the Lianozovsky Electromechanical Plant (part of the Almaz-Antey concern)

Valdai is designed to detect and monitor objects with extremely low effective scattering area (ESA), as well as to distinguish small UAVs against the ground or to distinguish them from birds, and then neutralize them.

Also, on October 17, it became known that the russians shot down their own plane while repelling a drone attack.

On September 30, the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed the radar of the S-400 air defense system in the occupied Crimea.
