On the night of September 30, units of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit a radar station of the russian S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile system in the occupied Crimea.

The command of the Special Operations Forces has reported this on Facebook.

The station is the "eyes" of the air defense system: without an element of observation and guidance, the complex loses its combat capability

"It is symbolic that the enemy's expensive air defense system, aimed in particular against UAVs, was neutralized by the Ukrainian Armed Forces' attack drones," the statement said.

What is S-400 Triumph, what are its strengths and weaknesses

The S-400 is a russian long- and medium-range air defense system, a successor to the S-300 with advanced tactical and technical capabilities. It is designed to engage aircraft, cruise missiles and certain types of ballistic missiles at long range; the battery includes multifunctional radars (the system's "eyes") and self-propelled launchers with several types of missiles of different ranges.

Russia deploys the S-400 to cover important facilities and territories in the occupied areas (especially in Crimea, the south and border areas) to protect aviation, bases and logistics. The S-400 is effective against aircraft and some missiles, but is weaker against massive kamikaze drone strikes and low-altitude targets without additional cover.

Recall that in August 2025, the Defense Intelligence hit the russian 91N6E radar system from the S-400 Triumph air defense system in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
