Ukraine breaks off diplomatic relations with Nicaragua - Foreign Ministry

Ukraine breaks off diplomatic relations with the Republic of Nicaragua due to its support for russia's armed aggression against Ukraine and recognition of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine as russian. This was announced in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on Thursday, September 2.

The Nicaraguan authorities have decided to recognize the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, parts of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions of Ukraine as part of the territory of the aggressor country, russia. Such a decision of the country grossly violates international law and obligations regarding mutual respect, stressed the Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha.

"Support for the armed aggression of the russian federation against Ukraine, an attempt to legitimize the forcible seizure of part of the territory of Ukraine, the official recognition of the so-called "DPR" and "LPR" and the opening of an illegal "honorary consulate of Nicaragua" on the territory of the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Ukraine, indicates the political identification of Nicaragua with the aggressor state and the direct financial and political dependence of the puppet regime of Managua on Moscow," Sybiha emphasized.

In response to such unfriendly acts, Ukraine is breaking off diplomatic relations with the Republic of Nicaragua.
