Zelenskyy instructs Kuleba to find out reasons for scale of tragedy in Odesa

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed Vice Prime Minister for Reconstruction - Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksii Kuleba to find out the reasons that led to a large number of deaths due to heavy rain in Odesa. Zelenskyy announced this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Today, Vice Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba reported on the situation in the city, clarifying the circumstances of such a scale of the tragedy. I instructed him to conduct a full inspection of the work in Odesa, all the facts that preceded the tragedy and could have caused such significant negative consequences. I expect a detailed report this Friday," he said.

The President called the situation in Odesa, where nine people were killed in the natural disaster, including a child, terrible. He expressed condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased. According to him, they are checking information about another person, whose fate is currently unknown.

Zelenskyy noted that the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the National Police are involved in the rescue operation and restoration work.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, due to the bad weather that has been going on in Odesa for almost a day, according to the latest data, 9 people have been killed, including a child.
