In Odesa, two-month rainfall rate fell in 7 hours - Trukhanov

On Tuesday, September 30, Odesa received almost 2-months worth of rainfall during a large-scale downpour. This was stated by Odesa Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov in his Telegram.

It is reported that the situation is difficult but under control. All utilities are still working.

"In 7 hours, almost two months' worth of precipitation fell in Odesa. No storm sewer can withstand such a load," Trukhanov said

The mayor of Odesa also warns that bad weather is expected today, October 1, and calls for compliance with safety rules.

"I am grateful to my colleagues from DTEK, Odesagas, Infoksvodokanal and other services for their constant work. Special thanks to the State Emergency Service units that rescued people in the flooded districts," he concluded.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, rescuers in Odesa are looking for a 23-year-old girl, whom the water could have carried away during the severe weather.

On September 30, it started to rain in Odesa , traffic was hampered on many streets, some roads were completely blocked.

During the day, Odesa has already received 1.5 months of precipitation, which resulted in the shutdown of all electric transport at 17:30.
