Maksymenko begins personnel purge at ARMA

Acting head of the National Agency of Ukraine for Finding, Tracing and Management of Assets Derived from Corruption and Other Crimes (Asset Recovery and Management Agency, ARMA) Yaroslava Maksymenko has begun personnel purges at the Agency.

She said this in an interview with the Ukrainian News Agency.

"I have begun personnel purges and an internal audit has been launched. This will allow us to see the real state of affairs in the agency. Purging the system is a painful but necessary process, because without it there will be no movement forward," Maksymenko said.

The acting head added that ARMA has strong support from international partners and clear coordination with the Cabinet of Ministers, law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies.

"It is thanks to this interaction that we are able to restore order in the shortest possible time. Already in early October we will openly report on the results of our work - we are preparing a public event where the first report and next steps will be presented. The public and our partners will receive an invitation in the near future," Maksymenko added.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Cabinet of Ministers is preparing to conduct an independent audit of the activities of ARMA. The Cabinet of Ministers has temporarily assigned the duties of the head of the ARMA to Yaroslava Maksymenko, deputy head of ARMA for European integration.
