India has sent its military to the large-scale Zapad-2025 maneuvers, which are being held by russia and Belarus. The Times reported this on September 15.
According to the Indian Ministry of Defense, 65 servicemen were sent to the exercises, among them - fighters of the Kumaon regiment, one of the most authoritative units of the country's army. They are already deployed at the Yudino training ground, which is 40 miles from Nizhny Novgorod.
The department explained participation in the maneuvers as a desire to "further strengthen defense cooperation and friendly relations between India and Russia, strengthening the spirit of partnership and mutual trust." It is also reported that the Indian military will take part in joint tactical training and practicing weapons skills together with the russian military.
The Times calls this step by New Delhi a step beyond the "red line".
Analysts note that India's participation in the exercises at a time of confrontation between russia and NATO is a worrying signal. Before the full-scale war in Ukraine, the country had already participated in previous "West" maneuvers, and also joined other russian military exercises.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Poland deployed 40,000 troops to the border ahead of joint russian-Belarusian exercises.
Meanwhile, in September, the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, Andrii Demchenko, said that russia currently does not have the forces to invade Belarus again, but it is capable of carrying out provocations.
And the head of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, warned that with the start of the russian-Belarusian "Zapad-2025" exercises from September 12 to 16, a large-scale information pressure from russia is expected.
