Peace talks between russia and Ukraine have paused for now, but the process remains open, russian dictator putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. His words were quoted by Reuters.
Peskov again accused European countries of allegedly obstructing the peace process. According to him, moscow remains open to talks.
"The channels of communication are in place and functioning. Our negotiators have the opportunity to communicate through these channels. But for now, it is probably more accurate to say that there is a pause. The Russian side remains ready to pursue the path of peaceful dialogue. But the fact that the Europeans are hindering this is indeed true. This is not a secret to anyone," putin's spokesman said.
This year, russian and Ukrainian negotiators have held three rounds of direct talks in Istanbul, the last of which took place on July 23, on the basis of which several agreements were reached on the return of prisoners of war and the bodies of the dead. But the two sides remain far apart on what a possible peace agreement might look like.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on September 7, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that the United States is ready to increase pressure on the aggressor country russia, which will lead to the complete collapse of its economy.
On September 2, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the leaders of Ukraine and the aggressor country russia are not yet ready to meet.
On August 24, US Vice President J.D. Vance said that the war in Ukraine could end in the next three to six months thanks to diplomatic efforts.
