US President Donald Trump said he plans to have a phone call with russian leader vladimir putin in the near future.
He said this at an exclusive dinner with the heads of the world's largest IT companies at the White House on September 4.
When asked by a journalist whether Trump plans to talk to russian leader putin in the near future after his phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, he replied in the affirmative.
"I will be. We're having a very good dialogue," he said.
Trump added: "I settled seven wars. The one that I thought would be maybe one of the easiest. You know that feeling? You think one thing's going to be easier, turns out to be a little bit tougher. But the one that I thought would be an easier one because of my relationship with President Putin and with Ukraine and everything else."
The American president said that 7,000 people had been killed this week alone, most of them soldiers, but he noted that there were also civilians. Trump added that people were being killed "at levels that we haven't seen since World War II."
"But that's turned out to be the most difficult of the group. You know, I settled three wars. One was 31 years going, a lot of people killed, 10 million people. Another was 34 and another was 37 years, it was going on. And people said you can't settle them and I settled them. This one [Russo-Ukrainain war] turned out to be more difficult, but we'll get it," Trump added.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Trump previously stated that at the moment the leaders of Ukraine and russia - Volodymyr Zelenskyy and vladimir putin - are not ready to start peace negotiations.
Meanwhile, Trump denied that he aspires to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Throughout August, many media outlets published materials emphasizing the US president's desire to receive the award.
