US President Donald Trump said that at the moment the leaders of Ukraine and russia - Volodymyr Zelenskyy and vladimir putin - are not ready to start peace talks.
He said this in an interview with CBS News.
The American President stressed that he remains committed to the idea of reaching an agreement between Kyiv and Moscow, considering this scenario quite realistic. According to him, he is closely following the actions of both sides.
"I am watching this, I see it and I am discussing it with president putin and President Zelenskyy. Something has to happen, but they are not ready yet. We are going to do it," Trump said.
He again emphasized that he is "not happy with this massacre," but intends to continue to seek a peace agreement between Ukraine and russia. "I think we will manage everything," the head of the White House added.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, US Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent said that US President Donald Trump will consider imposing sanctions on russia this week in response to recent massive attacks on Ukraine.
Meanwhile, during a meeting with the President of Poland in the Oval Office, the US President was irritated by a Polish journalist's statement that Trump had not taken action against russian leader vladimir putin since he took office.
