US President Donald Trump has said he is not seeking the Nobel Peace Prize.

"I have nothing to say about it. All I can do is stop wars. I'm not looking for attention. I just want to save lives," Trump said.
In addition to his peace efforts in the russia-Ukraine war, Trump has said in recent weeks that he has been credited with stopping "six or seven wars" during his term and that he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts. Several Trump allies told CBS News that Trump claims that the work he and his administration have done has been crucial in moving these negotiations forward.
White House officials listed seven conflicts the President was referring to: Israel and Iran, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, Armenia and Azerbaijan, Thailand and Cambodia, India and Pakistan, Egypt and Ethiopia, Serbia and Kosovo.
Some foreign policy analysts criticized Trump's statement, arguing that many of these conflicts remain unresolved or were not full-scale wars. Or they argued that Trump was not a central force in the discussions.
Throughout August, many media outlets published materials emphasizing the US President's desire to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.
The Washington Post noted that Trump mentioned his desire to receive the award during meetings with various world leaders. Trump had previously said of Obama's Nobel Peace Prize: "They gave it to Obama right after he took office, and he had no idea why he got it." Obama himself admitted that it was not "a recognition of my own achievements," but rather his inspiring rhetoric.
The Economist magazine also pointed to Trump's desire to receive the award. Le Monde quoted Trump as saying: "They will never give me the Nobel Peace Prize. It's a shame. I deserve it, but they will never give it to me."
In addition, the media reported that Trump called the Norwegian Finance Minister to discuss the tariff issue, but in the conversation he also said that he wanted to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.
The 2025 laureate is expected to be announced next month.
