White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said that US President Donald Trump was unhappy with russia's strikes on Kyiv on the night of August 28, but not surprised.
She reported this at a briefing.
"He was not happy with this news, but he was not surprised either. These are two countries that have been at war for a very long time. Russia launched this attack on Kyiv. And Ukraine also recently struck russian oil refineries. In fact, they destroyed 20% of the capacity of russian oil refineries during August," Leavitt said.
She added that Trump continues to closely monitor events.
"Perhaps both sides of this war are not ready to end it themselves. The President wants it to end, but the leaders of these two countries should also want it to end. And I think the President will make additional statements on this later," the spokeswoman said.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, US President Donald Trump's special representative Keith Kellogg said that russia's "blatant attacks" such as the one on the night of August 28 on Kyiv "threaten the peace that US President Donald Trump seeks."
As a reminder, it became known that the death toll from the massive airstrike on Kyiv on the night of August 28 has risen to 23.
