Witkoff announces meeting with Ukrainian representatives in New York this week

Donald Trump's special representative Steve Witkoff announced a meeting with Ukrainian representatives in New York in the near future. He stated this on FoxNews.

Also, Witkoff called the upcoming meeting an important signal and added that he speaks to the russian side every day.

"This week I am meeting with the Ukrainians, so this week I will meet with them in New York, and this is an important signal. We communicate with the russians every day. I think that, ultimately, we can witness a bilateral meeting," said Witkoff in response to a question about the meeting of representatives of Ukraine and russia.

Also, Witkoff commented on the possibility of a meeting between vladimir putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and stated that this is possible.

"I think we can see a bilateral meeting. In my opinion, the President will be needed at the negotiating table to complete the deal," he noted.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on August 19, US President Donald Trump announced the start of preparations for a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and russian president vladimir putin.

Also on August 19, Trump said that the possible deployment of troops of European NATO member states on the territory of Ukraine would not be a "problem" for putin.

At the same time, on August 19, Trump said that Ukraine should abandon hopes for the return of Crimea occupied by russia and accession to the North Atlantic Alliance.
