US Senator Lindsey Graham said that he will promote the legislative recognition of the aggressor country of russia as a state sponsor of terrorism if it does not return the kidnapped children. This was reported by the head of the President's Office Andrii Yermak on his Telegram channel on Tuesday, August 19.
Graham emphasized that russia has kidnapped more than 19,000 children from Ukraine, which is a vile and barbaric crime.
"He clearly stated: if the children are not returned, he will promote the recognition of the russian federation as a state sponsor of terrorism. We are grateful to our partners in the US for such a principled position. The return of our children is not a bargain. This is a condition for a just peace and the victory of humanity over terror," Yermak wrote.
At the same time, Graham emphasized that if russia is recognized as a state sponsor of terrorism, it will become "radioactive" for business with other states.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on June 10, 2023, a bill was submitted to the US Congress to recognize russia as a state sponsor of terrorism.
On July 4, 2023, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) recognized russia as a state sponsor of terrorism.
