It is reported that due to the tourist season in Alaska, the United States faced a problem with selecting a location for the meeting of the head of the White House and putin.
"The United States faced the problem that Alaska is currently experiencing a peak tourist season. That is why the options available and equipped to hold a meeting between the two leaders were severely limited," the report says.
It is noted that the White House decided that the only city in Alaska with viable options for the summit would be Anchorage - the largest city in this state, located on the shores of Cook Inlet and surrounded by the Chugach Mountains.
"And only the Elmendorf-Richardson Joint Base, located on the northern outskirts of the city, would meet the requirements for the historic meeting, although the White House hoped to avoid the optics of hosting the russian leader and his entourage at a US military base," CNN notes, citing a source.
Recall, the American publication The New York Times wrote that a house was rented in Anchorage where Trump and putin will meet.
