Trump explains why he did not tighten sanctions and did not impose tariffs against russia

US President Donald Trump explained why he did not tighten sanctions and did not impose tariffs against the aggressor country russia, which he had repeatedly said before.

Trump said this on Monday, August 11.

According to him, he wanted to impose additional sanctions and tariffs against russia, but received a call from the russians that they wanted to meet.

The US President added that he would like to see a ceasefire between russia and Ukraine.

"It takes two to tango, right? I'll have a meeting next week. I have a great relationship with him (russian dictator vladimir putin - Ed.), considering the fact that I was not nice to him," Trump said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, last Saturday, August 9, President Trump announced that he would hold a meeting with putin. It will take place on August 15 in Alaska.

Recall that the American publication The New York Times wrote that a house has been rented in Anchorage where Trump and putin will meet.

The day before, the publication published an article stating that the meeting with Trump is an ideal opportunity for putin to end the war on his own terms and split NATO.
