The fire in the territory of the Zaporizhzhia NPP temporarily occupied by the russians did not affect the radiation level. This is stated in a report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on the social network X.
It is reported that on August 12, IAEA instructors saw smoke coming from the administrative building of the station after reports of a fire near the cooling towers.
"IAEA employees at the Zaporizhzhia NPP (Ukraine) today noticed smoke from the administrative building of the station after reports of a fire near the cooling towers. An increase in radiation levels, no nuclear safety damage was recorded, there were no casualties, Director General Rafael Grossi confirms," the report says.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, smoke is visible in the area of the cargo port of the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP. The exact location of the fire and its possible consequences are currently being established.
On August 10, as a result of the russian attack on Zaporizhzhia, the External Crisis Center of the Zaporizhzhia NPP came under attack.
On August 7, the IAEA announced the use of artillery by the occupiers near the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
On August 3, a team from the International Atomic Energy Agency recorded explosions and smoke near one of the auxiliary facilities near the Zaporizhzhia NPP site.
