Smoke is visible in the area of the cargo port of the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. The exact location of the fire and its possible consequences are currently being established. The Energoatom National Nuclear Energy Generating Company reported this on Tuesday, August 12.
The company emphasized that the cargo port is located outside the protected perimeter of the plant itself.

According to the head of the Center for the Study of Occupation Petro Andriushchenko, in the first half of the day the russian occupiers conducted artillery shelling from the territory of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which could have led to a fire. It is difficult to extinguish the fire due to the dense mining of the territory. According to him, a large fire is currently burning near the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which has not yet been commented on by either the occupation authorities or the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). It is also unknown whether there is a threat to the nuclear power plant.
