Russian dictator vladimir putin has so far shown no willingness to compromise on establishing peace in Ukraine, and a meeting with US President Donald Trump is unlikely to change that.
George Barros, the Russia Team & Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) Team Lead at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), has stated this in a comment to Ukrinform.
"Putin has shown no willingness to compromise on his military goals. I don't think that will change at the summit on Friday," he said.
At the same time, Barros noted that the United States has enormous power and leverage and can achieve results if it uses them to their full potential.
"But so far the US government has refused to use all its capabilities to force Putin to sit at the negotiating table," he noted.
This is how Barros commented on the ISW conclusion that the Kremlin is trying to use the upcoming summit in Alaska to divide the United States and Europe, rather than to join peace efforts.
Recall, the American publication The New York Times wrote that a house was rented in Anchorage where Trump and Putin will meet.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in the meantime, US President Donald Trump explained why he did not tighten sanctions and impose tariffs against the aggressor country russia, which he had repeatedly said before.
