Trump signs order to impose additional 25% tariffs on India

US President Donald Trump has signed an order to impose additional 25% tariffs on India, which buys large amounts of oil from russia and thereby finances the war against Ukraine.

This is according to a message published on the White House website on Tuesday, August 6.

"I determine that it is necessary and appropriate to impose an additional ad valorem duty on imports of articles of India, which is directly or indirectly importing Russian Federation oil," Trump's order says.

The new tariffs against India will come into force 21 days after the date of signing the decree.

The prerequisites for the imposition of tariffs are Executive Order 14066 of March 8, 2022 "Prohibiting Certain Imports and New Investments With Respect to Continued Russian Federation Efforts To Undermine the Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity of Ukraine."

This Executive Order prohibits the import of products originating in the russian federation into the US, including crude oil, oil, fuel oil, oils and their distillation products.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 30 of this year, US President Donald Trump announced the introduction of 25% tariffs against India. One of the reasons for this was the purchase of russian energy resources.

Last Monday, August 4, Trump wrote on Truth Social that India does not care how many people die in Ukraine at the hands of the russian military machine. In this regard, the US will increase tariffs on Indian goods.
