US President Donald Trump announced the introduction of a 25% tariff on goods from India from August 1. He wrote about this on his social network Truth Social.
"Remember that even though India is our friend, over all these years we have had very little trade with them because their tariffs are too high - some of the highest in the world," Trump wrote.
He added that of all countries, India has "the toughest and most unpleasant non-monetary trade barriers."
"India has also always bought the vast majority of its military equipment from russia and is the largest buyer of russian energy along with China - at a time when everyone wants russia to stop the killings in Ukraine. All this is not good! Therefore, India will pay a 25% tariff, as well as a penalty for the above, starting August 1," the American President noted.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on July 29, Donald Trump said that russian dictator vladimir putin has 10 days to cease fire in Ukraine. Otherwise, Washington will impose previously promised tariffs against Moscow.
Later, Trump expressed uncertainty whether the new "tariffs and other measures" that he promised to introduce if russia does not achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine within 10 days will affect the aggressor country.
