Russia may accept "air truce" with Ukraine without stopping war to appease Trump – Bloomberg

The kremlin is considering a concession to US President Donald Trump to stop air strikes on Ukraine, but not to stop hostilities. The aggressor country russia wants to avoid secondary sanctions. Bloomberg reported this on Tuesday, August 5.

The kremlin is currently weighing options for a concession to Trump so that the US president does not impose the announced sanctions. Officials admitted that a visit to moscow by special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff could contribute to such an agreement.

"The Kremlin is weighing options for a concession to US President Donald Trump that could include an air truce with Ukraine to try to head off the threat of secondary sanctions, even as Russia remains determined to continue its war," the material says.

A political scientist close to the kremlin, Sergei Markov, believes that Trump needs some kind of "gift", a concession from russia, which could be an "air truce" with Ukraine. However, russian dictator vladimir putin, as he has repeatedly stated, will not agree to a general ceasefire in Ukraine, writes Bloomberg.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on August 4, US President Donald Trump announced that Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, will likely visit russia on August 6 or 7 at moscow's request.

Also on August 4, Trump said that US President Donald Trump's Special Envoy to Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, will likely visit Ukraine in the coming days.

Recall that on July 28, Trump said that he was setting a new deadline of 10-12 days, during which the aggressor state russia must make progress in concluding a peace agreement with Ukraine.
