Fighter jets were scrambled in the US after a civilian plane flew into a temporary flight restriction (TFR) zone over a golf course where President Donald Trump spends his time, Fox News reported.
According to a statement from the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), the pilot flew into the temporary flight restriction (TFR) zone at approximately 12:50 p.m. Eastern Time. Flares were used to get the pilot's attention and get the plane out of the restricted area.
"NORAD said the intercept was the second of the day, noting that another aircraft had entered the TFR zone. In total, there were five unauthorized incursions over the weekend. NORAD added that flares "are employed with the highest regard for the safety of the intercepted aircraft and people on the ground"," the report said.
NORAD also stressed that flares pose no threat to those on the ground, as they burn up quickly and completely.
