Trump says US prepared for nuclear conflict with russia

The US is prepared for a potential nuclear clash with russia, President Donald Trump said, commenting on his previous statement about moving nuclear submarines "closer to Russia", which followed dmitry medvedev's remarks, who reminded Trump of the Dead Hand system.

"He (Deputy Chairman of the russian Security Council Medvedev – Ed.) was talking about nuclear. When you talk about nuclear, we have to be prepared, and we're totally prepared," the Head of the White House said in an interview with Newsmax, CNN reports.

Trump wrote about sending two nuclear submarines to the "appropriate regions" the day before on Truth Social, the Ukrainian News agency reported.

He noted that this step was taken in response to "highly provocative statements of the Former President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev".

The US President stressed that words matter and can lead to "unforeseen consequences". He expressed hope that the current situation "will not be one of those cases."

He later said that the redeployed submarines were moved "closer to Russia" to ensure the "safety of our people" amid Medvedev's threat. He had previously reminded Washington of russia's Perimeter system, which provides an automatic nuclear strike in response to the death of the country's top leadership.

"We always want to be ready, and so I have sent to the region two nuclear submarines. I just want to make sure that his words are only words and nothing more than that," Trump told Newsmax.
