President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump has discussed Ukraine's air defense, they have agreed to work on its enhancing. Zelenskyy announced this on the Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"Today we talked about the situation: about Russian air strikes and more broadly - about the situation on the front. President Trump is very well informed, thank you for this attention to Ukraine. We discussed the possibilities of air defense and agreed that we will work on enhancing the skies protection. We agreed on a corresponding meeting of our teams," he said.
Zelenskyy called the conversation with Trump very important and useful.
They also spoke in detail about the capabilities of the defense industry, about the possibilities of joint production. Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine is ready for direct projects with America and believes that this is extremely necessary for security, especially regarding drones and related technologies.
They also discussed mutual purchases and investments, exchanged views on the diplomatic situation and joint work with America and other partners.
Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine needs a decent deal for peace and that Ukraine supports American proposals.
He congratulated Trump and the entire American people on the US Independence Day.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the night of July 4, russian troops carried out a massive air strike on Ukraine, launching 550 weapons, the main target of the strike was the capital, Kyiv.
Trump said on Thursday that a telephone conversation with russian leader vladimir putin had not led to any progress in efforts to end the war in Ukraine.
US President Donald Trump, commenting on the supply of weapons to Ukraine, said that the United States did not completely stop its transfer. At the same time, he accused former President Joe Biden of weakening the United States due to the volume of weapons transferred to Ukraine.
