Ukraine, with sufficient funding, is capable of producing up to 10 million unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) annually.
This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov at a meeting with representatives of German defense companies.
Umerov said that during the meeting he presented the key initiatives of Ukraine to the representatives of Germany.
The first is the production of UAVs. The Minister told the interlocutors that Ukraine can produce up to 10 million drones per year. This is possible with proper funding.
The participants of the meeting also discussed the initiative of weapons production in cooperation with the participating countries of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine (the Ramstein format).
"It's about combining Ukrainian technologies with the production capacities of partners to scale up the production of everything necessary <...> Our goal is to establish effective cooperation. The state is ready to help companies find partners in Ukraine and take direct part in joint projects," Umerov said.
The Minister also said that Ukraine needs assistance in the following areas:
- UAVs and long-range weapons;
- electronic warfare (EW) and communication systems;
- air defense;
- armored vehicles;
- software.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on Tuesday, July 1, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said that Ukraine and the Ramstein countries had launched a joint weapons production program for the Ukrainian army.
We will remind, the day before, a number of American media outlets reported that the United States had stopped supplying weapons and ammunition to Ukraine. This information was later confirmed by the White House.
