Patriot, Hellfire and Stinger. White House acknowledges suspension of military aid to Ukraine

Washington has confirmed that the supply of some weapons to Ukraine has been temporarily suspended. As White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly reported in a comment to NBC News, the decision was made after reviewing the volume of military support that the United States provides to other countries, in order to "put America's interests first".

This includes, in particular, the suspension of the shipment of air defense and weapons for the needs of the front. Among them:

  • dozens of interceptors for Patriot systems,
  • thousands of 155-mm howitzer shells,
  • more than 100 Hellfire guided missiles,
  • more than 250 high-precision GMLRS missiles,
  • dozens of Stinger and AIM missiles, as well as grenade launchers.

The Pentagon has not commented on the situation yet. According to NBC News, the supplies may remain on hold until an additional assessment is completed. In case of shortage of certain ammunition or need for them in other directions, the delay may be longer.

The decision was made against the backdrop of large-scale russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and delays with new military aid packages after the change of administration in the US.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, Donald Trump said that the US would look into whether it could supply Ukraine with Patriot air defense systems, because America also needs them.

Meanwhile, Politico reported that the US has temporarily suspended the supply of some air defense and ammunition to Ukraine.
