Ukraine and the countries-participants of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (Ramstein) are launching a joint weapons production program.
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov announced this on Tuesday, July 1.
According to him, Ukraine has invaluable experience in conducting modern warfare, its own effective weapons and equipment, as well as the opportunity to test them directly on the battlefield.
Umerov emphasized that soon Ukrainian weapons manufacturers will receive a special legal and tax regime that will allow them to scale and modernize production.
"First of all, we are talking about the creation of new factories and production sites - both in Ukraine and abroad - in the countries-participants of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format. All weapons produced at these factories will be supplied to our Defense Forces until the end of the war," Umerov said.
He noted that this is a new type of military-industrial cooperation, where Ukraine will be an equal partner and player.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in May, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed to Western partners, calling to provide USD 30 billion for Ukraine by the end of 2025 to expand weapons production.
As we will recall, Reuters previously wrote that the aggressor country russia is reconstructing a plant in Siberia in order to increase the production of explosives for shells.
