Zelenskyy calls for USD 30 billion for weapons and drones by end of year

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appealed to Western partners to provide about USD 30 billion by the end of 2025 to expand domestic weapons production and more effectively deter russian aggression.

This is reported by Bloomberg.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine is not yet using its full potential and this amount will cover key needs in the defense sector. Zelenskyy called USD 30 billion a "rough estimate" of the cost of achieving military goals.

The money should go to the production of weapons in Ukraine, in particular drones, to attack russia with 300-500 drones daily. They want to increase the stock of drones themselves to 1,000.

The President also said that frozen russian assets could be a source of funds, the profits from which could provide new financing packages. Last year, the G7 countries already discussed a plan to raise EUR 50 billion (over USD 56 billion) based on profits from russian assets.

"There are Russian assets from the country that brought war to us. I believe there are many instruments available to finance Ukraine’s war efforts," Zelenskyy said.

As a reminder, on the night of May 28, explosions thundered in the moscow oblast, the result of a large-scale drone attack. In the city of Dubna, a UAV manufacturing enterprise, the Kronstadt plant, was hit.
