India and Pakistan agree to withdraw troops to peacetime positions - media

India and Pakistan have agreed to withdraw troops deployed during the recent conflict to positions occupied in peacetime. This should happen by the end of this month.

As CNA writes, the French news agency AFP reported this with reference to its own sources.

"The troops will be withdrawn to the positions occupied before the conflict by the end of May," the agency quotes an unnamed Pakistani official as saying.

He said that India and Pakistan have agreed to a phased withdrawal of additional troops and weapons deployed on the Jammu and Kashmir border.

The agency's interlocutor added that initially all these steps were planned to be completed within 10 days, but minor problems led to delays.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 10, India and Pakistan agreed on a new ceasefire. The very next day, May 11, both sides accused each other of violating it.

Recall that on May 7, the largest air battle took place between the air forces of India and Pakistan, in which about 125 aircraft participated.
