The air battle between India and Pakistan became one of the largest air battles in the modern history of aviation.
This is reported by CNN, citing its own sources.
About 125 fighters from both sides took part in the duel. Of these, 5 Indian ones were shot down. At the same time, neither side left the airspace of its country - the pilots fired at each other at a distance of more than 160 km.
The pilots of the Indian Air Force carried out several combat sorties from their airfield. Pakistan says that they did everything possible to ensure that the civilian population was not harmed.
Recall that on April 24, Pakistan announced that it was closing its airspace to airlines owned or operated by India.
On April 28, Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said he believed a military invasion of India was imminent after militants attacked tourists in Kashmir.
On May 6, India announced an attack on nine targets in Pakistan and the states of Jammu and Kashmir. Following the attack, Pakistan announced the closure of its airspace for 48 hours.
The head of the Pakistani army said that at least 26 people had been killed in recent Indian shelling of its territory.
In response, Indian police said 10 people had been killed and 48 injured in Pakistani shelling of Indian Kashmir.
