White House says what Trump is thinking about putin's new truce

US President Donald Trump wants Ukraine and the aggressor country of russia to achieve a permanent ceasefire. This is how the White House commented on the proposal of russian dictator vladimir putin for a new truce.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said this on April 28 during a press conference.

She was responding to a request from journalists to tell the details of the meeting between Trump and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, which took place in the Vatican the day before.

Leavitt said that Trump believes that he is increasingly disappointed in putin and Zelenskyy, because he wants to achieve a permanent ceasefire.

The White House press secretary also drew attention to today's statement by putin, in which he proposed a new temporary truce.

"The President has made it clear that he wants a permanent ceasefire. First of all, to stop the killing, to stop the bloodshed," Leavitt said.

She added that Trump continues to be optimistic about concluding a peace agreement between Ukraine and the russian federation.

The meeting with Zelenskyy, Leavitt emphasized, demonstrates how much time and effort Trump is devoting to peace negotiations.
