Zelenskyy imposes sanctions on war propagandists and those who justify russia

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) dated April 11 on sanctions against propagandists and the shadow fleet of the aggressor country of russia. The relevant decrees were published on the website of the Office of the President on Friday, April 11.

"We are increasing pressure on war propagandists and those who justify russia, and together with partners we are blocking the activities of the russian shadow fleet. The relevant decrees are already on the website," Zelenskyy wrote.

Decree No. 229/2025 imposed sanctions against 59 individuals, of whom 57 are russians and two are Chinese citizens. Decree No. 230/2025 imposed sanctions against 18 legal entities engaged in information activities and registered mainly in russia.

The annexes to the decrees provide a list of companies and citizens against whom sanctions are imposed. In particular, the list includes Ukrainian political scientist Vadym Karasev, journalist and TV presenter Oleksandr Shelest, and fugitive producer originally from occupied Alchevsk, Luhansk Region Yurii Bardash, who worked with the groups Quest Pistols, Griby [Mushrooms], and Nervy [Nerves]. In addition, russian propagandists and so-called "military police" Andrey Rudenko and Danilo Bessonov, russian TV presenters Arina Sharapova and Andrey Norkin were sanctioned.

Persons included in the sanctions list are deprived of state awards and assets in Ukraine are frozen.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on February 12, the National Security and Defense Council imposed sanctions against Petro Poroshenko, as well as businessmen Ihor Kolomoiskyi, Hennadii Boholiubov, and Kostiantyn Zhevaho, a former member of the Verkhovna Rada, the godfather of russian dictator vladimir putin, Viktor Medvedchuk.

On December 5, Zelenskyy implemented the NSDC decision on sanctions against part of the Georgian government.

On December 2, Zelenskyy announced the signing of a decree imposing sanctions against more than a hundred individuals and legal entities associated with the russian military system.
