Zelenskyy implements NSDC decision on sanctions against Georgian authorities

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has implemented the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) on sanctions against a part of the Georgian authorities that "surrenders Georgia to putin".

Zelenskyy announced this in a video address, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"I have just signed a decree that gives force to the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on sanctions. These are sanctions against that part of the authorities currently in Georgia that is surrendering Georgia to putin. This is what protests are against in Georgia now," he said.

In particular, according to him, Ukraine has applied sanctions against 19 people - the leader of the Georgian ruling party Georgian Dream Bidzina Ivanishvili and his accomplices - those who "sell out the interests of Georgia and the people". Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze is also on the sanctions lists.

Zelenskyy explained this decision by saying that if we do not react in time or if we react unprincipledly, then what follows is "lost decades and countries deprived of freedom."

He called on Europe, America, and everyone in the world to act in the same principled manner.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukraine strongly condemned the use of force against demonstrators in Georgia and called on the Georgian authorities to stop scaring people with the "Ukrainian scenario" and not to turn away from the European course.

Protests have been going on in Georgia for a week after the country's Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced that the country would not hold negotiations on joining the European Union until 2028.
