The spokesman for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Dmytro Lykhoviy, pointed out that from the interview with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, it is clear that there are no fundamental changes on the front. At the same time, the russian federation has increased pressure on the Kharkiv Axis and in the border areas of the Sumy Region, which is actually part of the offensive that the enemy launched back in May 2024.
He wrote about this on Facebook.
Thus, Lykhoviy drew attention to the fact that loud headlines about the russian offensive on Sumy and Kharkiv have begun to spread on social networks.
"If you do not resort to manipulation and read the original source - the interview with Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi to LB, then even without additional knowledge it is obvious that there are no fundamental changes on the front. And both the General Staff and the President talk about intensive combat operations on the front every day and every night," he explained.
The General Staff spokesman, in particular, cited Syrskyi's words that "the situation has not changed radically." The Commander-in-Chief said that for almost a week - before the interview, which took place last week - there was an almost doubling of the number of enemy offensive actions in all main axes. Syrskyi also added that it is necessary to take into account the fact that joint exercises in Belarus are planned for the fall.
"Over the past few weeks, the enemy has really managed to increase pressure in the Kharkiv and Kursk Axes, in particular in the border area of the Sumy Region. In fact, this is part of those offensive actions that the russians began back in May 2024. At the same time, the situation remains stable," Lykhoviy told.
He added that the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to conduct a defensive operation, and in some areas (for example, on the border with the Belgorod Oblast of the russian federation, and not only on the border) - they resort to active defense measures and are successful.
"The russians have repeatedly frightened us with their attacks and intentions to take something "in three days". But in reality, they have not been able to take Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad, completely capture Toretsk and Chasiv Yar for almost half a year. What can we say about Sumy and Kharkiv, where we have an echeloned defense, prepared fortifications, and other measures are being taken to counter the occupiers. Therefore, the activation of the enemy in the north of the Sumy and Kharkiv Regions is a statement of fact, but not a reason to disperse hype headlines," he emphasized.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, according to Syrskyi, the russian offensive on the Sumy and Kharkiv Regions has actually begun, the occupiers have increased the number of offensive activities in all main directions.
The Center for Countering Disinformation noted that russian troops have become more active in the direction of the Sumy and Kharkiv Regions, but there is no talk of an offensive on Sumy and Kharkiv right now.
