The russian offensive on the Sumy and Kharkiv Regions has actually begun, the occupiers have increased the number of offensive activities in all main axes. This was reported by Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi in an interview with lb.ua.
The Commander-in-Chief said this in response to a question about Volodymyr Zelenskyy's statement about the russians preparing an offensive on the Sumy and Kharkiv Regions.
"I can say that the President is absolutely right, and this offensive has actually already begun," Syrskyi said.
The Commander-in-Chief stated that in general the situation remains unchanged and russia continues its strategic offensive to seize Ukraine.
"The enemy continues a strategic offensive operation with the aim of seizing our territory, defeating our troops, advancing in depth, seeking to completely seize the Donetsk and Luhansk Regions, as well as parts of the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia Regions, and creating a buffer zone on the territory of the Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv Regions. It adheres to those goals or tries to fulfill the tasks that were set for it," the Commander-in-Chief explained.
He also recalled that it was from the russian military exercises in Belarus in 2022 that the offensive on the Kyiv Region began, and that the exercises allow the occupation forces to disguise the strike groups.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, at the moment, Ukrainian border guards do not observe any threats to our country from Belarus.
It was previously reported that the situation in the area of responsibility of the Siversk OSTG is controlled by the Defense Forces of Ukraine. The enemy has concentrated most of its forces near the Sumy Region.
Earlier, the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, Andrii Demchenko, reported that russia, with the help of sabotage and reconnaissance groups, is trying to expand the penetration zone into the Sumy Region and transfer hostilities from the Kursk Oblast to the territory of Ukraine.
In recent days, the number of air strikes on the border in the Sumy Region has increased. Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups are also actively penetrating the territory of the region.
