Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jönsson announced that his country will provide Ukraine with the largest military aid package ever since the start of the full-scale invasion by the aggressor country of russia. Its size is USD 1.6 billion.
Jönsson wrote about this on his page on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
According to him, today most of the international support is carried out through various initiatives, the implementation of which is taking place within the framework of the Contact Group on Defense Issues in Ukraine (the Ramstein format). Sweden will transfer USD 465 million to these funds and initiatives.
In addition, the Swedish Defense Materials Administration (FMV) has assessed the market opportunities for the production of military equipment with a short delivery time - from one month to two years. USD 912 million has been allocated for the purchase of this equipment.
The military aid package to Ukraine also includes equipment from the Swedish Armed Forces. These are light machine guns, ammunition and about 100 vehicles for servicing military airfields.
In addition to purchases for Ukraine, an export guarantee for defense exports will be introduced. According to Jönsson, this means that more companies will be able to support Ukraine by providing the necessary materials, along with purchases by the Swedish Ministry of Defense. USD 46 million is allocated for these purposes.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 28, the Swedish Ministry of Defense announced that Stockholm had allocated USD 8 million for the coalitions of drones and demining of Ukraine.
Recall, in February 2025, two gas turbines were manufactured in Sweden for Ukraine. They are capable of generating electricity for 300,000 consumers.
