Sweden to provide USD 8 million on drone coalition and demining of Ukraine

Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jönsson announced that his country will allocate SEK 80 million (a little more than USD 8 million) to assist Ukraine in the areas of demining and drone production.

Jönsson made the corresponding statement on March 28, according to the press service of the Swedish government.

The funds will be transferred to the Drone Coalition and the Demining Coalition within the framework of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine (the Ramstein format).

One half of the funds will be directed to support the Demining Coalition, and the other half to the Drone Coalition.

“This support ensures that Ukraine can develop its unmanned technologies and demining capabilities. This will help the Ukrainian army and Ukrainian society,” Jönsson said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in February this year it became known that Sweden had manufactured two gas turbines for Ukraine. They are capable of generating electricity for 300,000 consumers.

We will remind, shortly before that, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson stated that his country would consider joining a peacekeeping mission that could be sent to Ukraine.
