President's Office calls statements about preparations for elections fake

The article by the British publication The Economist about preparations for the elections in July is false and contains fake or manipulative information. BBC Ukraine was informed about this by the Office of the President of Ukraine on Monday, March 31.

The Office of the President stated that there was no meeting on organizing the presidential election in July, and described the information from The Economist as false. Some sources in the Office of the President and the government called the news about the elections as containing fake or manipulative information.

"First of all, there was no such meeting (on holding the elections in July – ed.) and there was no such instruction (to the team to organize the elections - ed.),” a source in the president's team told BBC Ukraine.

In addition, the publication's interlocutor in the government noted that there was little hope for the war to end by Easter, and the main issue at the moment remains the issue of establishing peace. It is incorrect to talk about preparations for the elections, he said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 30, the British publication The Economist stated that more than a week ago, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy convened a meeting to instruct his team to organize elections after a complete ceasefire, which, according to the Americans, they can implement by the end of April.

On March 25, the Verkhovna Rada reacted to the statement of US special representative Witkoff about the elections, calling it the promotion of putin's interests.

Recall, on February 25, the Verkhovna Rada, on the second attempt, adopted its statement on the impossibility of holding elections during the war.
