AFU records decrease in number of casualties in March due to update of basic training course - Syrskyi

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, held a comprehensive meeting on the results of the activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in March 2025, where he reported that due to the update of the basic training course and increasing its duration to 1.5 months, the number of casualties in the Armed Forces of Ukraine decreased in March. He reported this on Facebook.

"We modernized the basic training course and increased its duration to 1.5 months, introduced a mandatory adaptive period for newcomers in combat brigades, and this gives positive results - this month we recorded a decrease in casualties compared to the previous ones. However, there is still work to be done. It is worth achieving the highest standards of training. I separately emphasized the problems of development and set the task of maximizing the combat capabilities of the brigades," added the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the training centers that train mobilization personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have updated the basic military training program with an emphasis on psychological resilience since February 10.

In December, Syrskyi spoke out in favor of increasing the duration of basic military training to 2 months. In particular, according to him, after basic military training, increased to 1.5 months instead of the previous 30-day training, it is necessary to add a further course for a novice in a military unit lasting 5-14 days.
