The basic general military training program (BGMT) with an emphasis on psychological resilience was updated in the training centers that train mobilization personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from February 10.
This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Defense, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"The implementation of the fifth edition of the basic general military training program (BGMT) with an emphasis on psychological resilience continues in all training centers that train mobilization personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the message says.
In the updated program, the total duration of training remains unchanged - 1.5 months (taking into account the provision of days of rest to recruits), of which 41 days are allocated for classes, 6 - for rest and 1 - for administrative issues.
The total amount of training is 372 hours.
The process of improving the program, taking into account the proposals of elite combat military units, was led by the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Oleh Apostol.
The Ministry of Defense notes that from November 1, 2024, the BGMT term will be 1.5 months. The new training program, approved by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi at the end of 2024, will come into force on February 10, 2025.
Among the key innovations of the updated BGMT program:
the so-called "zero day"/"reboot" day (adaptation of the civilian to the military environment) has been introduced;
the content of psychological training has been increased;
studying the "Kropyva" software;
an expanded course on first aid;
"marching" training (physical training) has been added to build the endurance of servicemen.
The Ministry of Defense emphasizes that the training program includes advanced shooting exercises with individual weapons at short distances (combat in direct contact with the enemy up to 100 m) and at speed, for which additional ammunition is provided.
It is noted that the exercises were improved by representatives of combat units that qualitatively destroy the enemy in their directions. The program also provides for training in the psychological resilience of servicemen by watching virtual reality films "First Battle".
"The new BGMT program is the result of a thorough analysis of the combat experience of our units. We optimized the training process by removing outdated elements and focusing on practical skills, psychological resilience and other critically necessary functions on the modern battlefield," said Deputy Minister of Defense Brigadier General of Justice Serhii Melnyk.
The program includes four main blocks:
a familiarization course - 8 hours;
an individual training course - 107 hours;
training in actions within the unit – 209 hours;
complex tactical training – 48 hours.
Based on the results of successful training, servicemen receive a certificate and class qualification for the military accounting specialty-100 "shooter".
The next stage of training is professional courses in accordance with the specified positions in combat units, where servicemen acquire in-depth knowledge and skills in a specific military-accounting specialty.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in December, Syrskyi spoke out in favor of increasing the duration of basic general military training to 2 months. In particular, according to him, after basic general military training, increased to 1.5 months instead of the previous 30-day training, it is necessary to add a further course for a novice in a military unit lasting 5-14 days.
