There is no mechanism for monitoring attacks on energy infrastructure yet - Zelenskyy

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that at present technical teams have not yet determined a mechanism for monitoring russia's implementation of agreements on the ban on attacks on energy infrastructure. Because of this, it is still impossible to accurately assess compliance with these agreements.

Zelenskyy said this in an interview with Eurovision News.

According to him, "this is a complicated story with monitoring, and so far the technical teams have not determined how it will be."

He stressed that there were no attacks on energy last night, but russian troops struck other civilian infrastructure, using more than 100 drones. "Although I don't want to lie - there were no attacks on energy last night, but there were attacks on other civilian infrastructure. Of course, it is a tragedy that the russians attacked anyway, and more than a hundred drones, but we must be honest - there were no strikes on energy that night, and Ukraine did not respond on energy either.

The President noted that it is unknown whether this is a coincidence, since russia cannot be trusted. "It is unknown whether this is a coincidence or not, because no one trusts the russians. They simply cannot be trusted. Therefore, it was necessary to agree immediately so as not to hit any civilian infrastructure - it is easier to monitor."

Zelenskyy also stressed the importance of determining who will monitor and take responsibility. "It is certainly important who monitors and who takes responsibility. We are waiting for a response from the United States of America."

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, following the US talks with Ukraine and the aggressor country of russia in Saudi Arabia, all parties agreed to ensure safe shipping in the Black Sea and to implement a ban on strikes on energy infrastructure.

On March 26, Advisor to the President of Ukraine Dmytro Lytvyn said that after the declaration of a ceasefire regarding strikes on energy facilities, at least eight hits on Ukrainian energy facilities have been recorded since March 18.
