The UN General Assembly has adopted a US resolution on the anniversary of russia's invasion of Ukraine. It does not condemn the actions of the russians.
This was reported by Voice of America.
The resolution is called "The Path to Peace". 93 UN member states voted "for", eight voted against, 73 abstained during the vote. Ukraine abstained.
Russia proposed an amendment "on the need to eliminate the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis", but the UN did not agree.
The resolution proposed by the US mentions grief over the "tragic loss of life during the russian-Ukrainian conflict", and also "contains a call for a speedy end to the conflict and a further call for the establishment of lasting peace between Ukraine and russia". Russia is not named as the aggressor in the document.

At the same time, the UN General Assembly voted for another resolution, initiated by European countries and Ukraine.
93 countries voted for the draft resolution, 18 against, and 65 abstained.
The document already calls russia an aggressor country and demands that it withdraw its troops from the territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.
The United States had previously criticized this resolution.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the UN General Assembly will consider at least two draft resolutions on Monday for the third anniversary of russia's war against Ukraine - from a group of most democratic countries, including Ukraine, and the American version.
A bill has been registered in the US Congress that provides for the withdrawal of the United States from the UN and the cessation of funding for all agencies related to it.
