Xi Jinping supports putin's efforts to "defuse Ukrainian crisis"

Chinese leader Xi Jinping reaffirmed his "boundless" partnership during a phone call with russian dictator vladimir putin, Reuters reported on Monday, February 24, citing Chinese state media.

Xi Jinping told putin on the third anniversary of russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine that Sino-russian relations have "internal momentum and unique strategic value." He said the relationship is not directed against any third party and is not influenced by any third party. The Chinese leader called the development strategies and foreign policies of China and russia long-term.

"Regarding Ukraine, Xi said that China is "glad to see positive efforts by russia and all parties concerned to defuse the crisis," noting such Chinese initiatives as the creation of a group of countries called "friends of peace," the report said.

In addition, Xi Jinping said that russia and China "are good neighbors who cannot be separated."
